The All Progressive Congress (APC) has lambasted a chieftain of the party Rotimi Amaechi, tagging him as “unpatriotic” and one of the contributors to the country current economic problem
This comes after Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers state and minister of transportation, said Nigerians are being too passive about the current economic situation in the country. Amaechi had said citizens should be protesting, not against individuals but against the political class,
In his words, “There should be protests. Not even protests against anybody but against the politicians we won’t vote.”
In a statement on Friday, APC national spokesperson Felix Morka said Amaechi is a major contributor to the economic problems of the country. He said, “Amaechi is trying to deceive Nigerians with fake sympathy while inciting violence which is hypocritical, provocative and dangerous.”
Morka added that Amaechi and other politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are just frustrated because they are not in power. He said the electorate chose the current government and Nigerians know the economic challenges caused by reforms are temporary and will lead to positive changes.
Morka also said Nigerians will not be fooled into violence to reverse the decision they made at the polls as Amaechi and other opposition leaders might think.
He ended by telling Amaechi to focus on the problems of Rivers state he used to govern.
