Anambra State Youth Development Commissioner, Patrick Aghamba and his wife have been kidnapped.
Details are still sketchy but, according to the Punch, the commissioner’s aide, ABK Offiah was killed in the process.
It was gathered that they were kidnapped on Friday while on their way to Abuja. They were to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo scheduled for Saturday.
A top government official who confirmed the incident over the phone said it happened in Edo State.
He said “Yes we are aware of the incident. The state government will issue a statement soon. Sources say the commissioner was on his way to Abuja.
“We have no information for now as neither the family nor the state government has been contacted. We will know more when he is released.”
When asked why the commissioner didn’t travel by air, he couldn’t say more.
Meanwhile, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson for the state said the command is aware of the situation and has informed other state commands to take action as the incident did not occur in Anambra State.
