Former Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai has again said he is not a politician who postures.
He compared some office holders to Nollywood actors, saying governance is about doing, not acting.
This comes after he said if he were in the current administration of President Tinubu, his position on governance would not change. That’s him being firm on integrity and leadership.
This has generated conversations online with many commenting on his political ideology.
One of his supporters, Ira Habib on X said, “El-Rufai is straightforward.”
Habib recalled reading El-Rufai’s book, ‘Accidental Public Servant’ and said if any leader includes El-Rufai in their team, they must be serious about national development.
El-Rufai responded to this, “Thank you. I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not some of us.”
Clear Cut Leadership
In another tweet, El-Rufai quoted former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair who said, “In opposition it matters what you say. In government it matters what you do. And saying is a lot easier than doing.”
According him, this is his position that leadership should be judged by actions not words.
El-Rufai has been vocal about the internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC.
He’s frustrated about the non existence of party structures. He said no significant meeting or discussion has taken place in the party for two years.
He even said APC is no longer recognizable to him, criticising the lack of collective decision making.
Presidency Responds
He didn’t go unresponded to. Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communications asked El-Rufai to drop his “vengeance mission”.
Bwala said El-Rufai’s comments are more personal than patriotic and that such criticism makes him look like an opposition member.
In his statement, Bwala said, “They are not patriotic but vengeance. The opposition sees that element of vengeance as a recruitment tool for you.”
He advised El-Rufai to address his issues constructively not publicly.
