Barcelona are reportedly cooking a new long term deal for 17-year-old football prodigy Lamine Yamal so he doesn’t leave the club.
Yamal has become the hottest name in football after his performances at the European Championship and his start to the 2024/25 season.
Yamal burst onto the scene this summer, becoming the youngest player to score in a European Championship. He helped Spain win the trophy and carried that form into his club career at Barcelona.
This season he’s already scored three (3) goals in 5 La Liga games, and after scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Girona on Sunday he’s now a key player in Barcelona’s attack.
Recently, Yamal said he wants to stay at Barcelona, he wants to be a club legend.
“I hope to never leave Barcelona,” he said in an interview, showing his loyalty to the club that developed him through their famous La Masia academy.
According to Marca, Barca will offer Yamal a new contract as soon as he turns 18 in July. The proposed deal will keep him at Camp Nou until 2030 so he’ll be at the club for at least 6 years.
In addition to Yamal’s contract, Barca will also offer similar deals to Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez and Gavi. This will create a new generation of stars for the youngsters of La Masia to look up to and strengthen the youth development of the club.
Barca are aiming for La Liga and Champions League success this season and Yamal will be a key player alongside Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo and Raphinha.
He’s contracted until 2026 but with a new deal he could be a key player for even longer.
