Former Miss South African contestant, Chidinma Adetshina, on Thursday expressed her interest in wanting to explore her Nigerian roots.
Adetshina, 23, who made this known in an interview with News Live SA (posted on X.com) on Thursday, spoke about her curiosity about her heritage. She said she hasn’t been to Nigeria in over 20 years and loves the country.
“I’m in my father’s country and I want to learn more about it,” she said. “It’s been 20 years since I last came so I’m excited to go deeper into Nigeria’s culture and find out more about where I come from.”
Adetshina also wants to win the Miss Universe Nigeria title, “My ultimate goal is to win the Miss Universe Nigeria crown.”
She encouraged others to learn from her journey, “We should all learn to accept all cultures for peaceful living.”
Adetshina wants to embrace her mixed background and merge both cultures and make the most of this experience.A
According to the PUNCH, Adetshina will be participating in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. She was invited to participate after she withdrew from Miss South Africa pageant following the backlash on her nationality.
Nigeria has produced some of the best in the area of beauty pageants. In 2001, the cpuntry produced the first black African woman to win Miss World in the name of Agbani Darego, who became an inspiration for young girls in the country and the continent as a whole.
