Nigeria’s Federal High Court in Abuja has imposed a N10 million fine on the actress, Halima Abubakar, for making derogatory statements about Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministry Worldwide.
Justice Enobie Obanor, who is presiding over case number FCT/HC/CV/3413/2022, pronounced that the statements by Halima Abubakar against Apostle Suleman were baseless and malicious.
The court ordered her to tender an apology on her instagram account @Halimabubakar as well as other internet platforms and newspapers she used to defame him.
The actress was also directed by the court to desist from publishing or causing others to publish more of such libelous words like what she said about Apostle Suleman.
The court also ordered the defendant to pay compensation of not less than N20milion to Apostle Suleiman for legal fees incurred by his lawyer during the course of this suit.
A social media user @FunkeSamuel commented on social media platform X, “It’s just so shocking that these very serious accusations made against this pastor have no basis. That was really audacious of him. Shame upon Halima Abubakar and her ‘forces of darkness’. It serves her right though and others of her type.”
Lamented another user, @Joshua_Fidelis, “She got just what she deserved for sure. It’s unthinkable to make such heavy allegations against the man of God without any evidence at all. Will they ever come out to help her? We live in a weird world.”
