Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that his side will fight to win another trophy this season.
Ten Hag, who joined United from Ajax in 2022, has already guided the club to win both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in his two season.
The Dutchman was heavily criticised before United’s match against Brentford at Old Trafford, but after the club’s impressive second-half performance, he feels the Red Devils are capable of winning silverware this season.
Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund helped United come from a goal down to win 2-1 in front of their home fans.
Speaking to the Football Writers’ Association ahead of the club’s Europa League match against Fenerbahçe on Thursday, he said: “You have to live for now in football. So it’s [trophies] all in the past, but you have to prove every day, prove yourself every season, so we have to go for it.”
United started the 2024/25 season poorly, losing to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, but the manager believed the Red Devils can still win a silverware this season.
He added: We are just at the start of the season, but of course, that is a target, to win a trophy again. The spirit has always been high, but of course, it helps, the mood will be better if we win.
“Everyone has high expectations of our team so we have to win every game and go for it. We have to be determined and when we win, we enjoy it for 24 hours and then we move on.”
United sits 12th on the Premier League table with 11 points from eight games (3 wins, 3 defeats, 2 draws). The Red Devils next EPL match is against West Ham on Sunday.
