Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has apologized to Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International for the lies she said about him.
In a post she shared on her Instagram today, Abubakar said her previous statement was both false and hurtful. She said she’s sorry for the pain she caused and apologised to Apostle Suleman and his family and asked for forgiveness.
She said her action was based on poor judgment and she decided to apologize after thinking through the situation and listening to her conscience.
In her letter she wrote, “I want to acknowledge the lies I said about you on social media and I’m sorry. After thinking through and seeking peace with God I have come to realize the extent of the harm, pain and distress I caused.
“I take full responsibility for the lies I spread and I’m deeply sorry for the damage I caused to you, Dr. Mrs. Lizzy Suleman, your family and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministries. I ask for your forgiveness, I know my apology can’t erase the pain I caused.”
She also asked Apostle Suleman to be merciful to her, “I ask for your forgiveness, I wasn’t thinking at the time. You have done so much for humanity, I hope you can forgive me.”
The drama started in 2022 when she claimed on social media she had an affair with Suleman. He threatened to take her to court for the lies. In 2023 she claimed she was pregnant three times for him.
In April a federal high court in Abuja ruled in Apostle Suleman’s favour, ordered Abubakar to pay N10m as damages and also granted an injunction against her from saying anything further about him.
