IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi has lamented that his members are finding it difficult to get fuel from Dangote Refinery after a N40 billion was paid through Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
This is even after NNPCL directed IPMAN members to collect fuel from the Lagos based refinery.
Maigandi said some marketers have been waiting with their trucks for 4 days without loading any product. His comments followed Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group who recently said the refinery has 500 million liters of PMS and is fully ready to supply the local market.
“If there’s 500 million liters, our members should not be waiting for days to load fuel,” Maigandi said on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily.
“We’re ready to buy directly from the refinery, but access is blocked, even after payment.”
Dangote Refinery, often called Africa’s biggest, has a daily production capacity of over 30 million liters.
During his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, Dangote said the refinery can meet Nigeria’s fuel demand and that its stock can last the country for 12 days without imports.
But Maigandi said that’s not true, IPMAN members have not gotten fuel under the current NNPCL arrangement.
He urged Dangote to open a direct registration for independent marketers to ease access, avoid delay and ensure efficient distribution.
