A sad incident occurred on Thursday when a woman jumped into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
She was confirmed dead by authorities after the incident was reported at 4pm.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command released a statement on the matter.
The incident happened near the UNILAG waterfront which has been the scene of many big events in the past.
The Marine Police in the area responded promptly. They recovered her body at the UNILAG shore slipway.
Local doctors at UNILAG confirmed her death in the presence of Sabo division police officers. Her body was taken to Yaba Infectious Disease Hospital mortuary.
The police are still investigating the incident to know the circumstances surrounding her death.
