yo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) to desist from any action that will destabilise Osun State.
Makinde urged them to uphold the rule of law and not take matters into their hands.
Speaking on Sunday in Osogbo on behalf of the PDP Governors’ Forum, he said political conflicts should be resolved through legal channels and not by inciting unrest.
He was accompanied by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, at the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected local government chairmen in Osun.
The forum drew from historical lessons, saying neglecting legal procedures will lead Osun into crisis.
Makinde said: “Osun should not be a battleground for issues that can be resolved by the judiciary.”
He restated the PDP’s commitment to governance and peace.
He said: “We don’t want Wild Wild West. Stay away from this group. We just want to deliver our dividend to our people.”
He also warned against bypassing established judicial process.
He said: “Nobody should use self-help. Even if you have court judgements, there’s a process. Let the process go through.”
He condemned the misuse of federal might, saying, “You can’t because you have federal might want to propagate the process. This is a federal arrangement.”
He urged the APC to allow peace in Osun and made it clear that legal measures must be followed in addressing grievances.
He said, “If anybody has a judgement, there’s a procedure for enforcement of court decisions. It’s illegal to use self-help.”
This comes at a time when political tension in Osun is reportedly high, hence the governor’s call for calm and legal way of doing things.
In his closing remark, Governor Makinde congratulated the newly sworn-in chairmen, a moment of hope for order and law governance.
