Arsenal smashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 on Tuesday.
Within 13 minutes of the first half Arsenal had scored three. Four more in the second half and it was all over.
This is the biggest away win in Champions League knockout history and Arsenal’s biggest win abroad in the competition.
Jurrien Timber scored first in the 18th minute. Then teenager Ethan Nwaneri, a prodigious talent, made it 2-0 with a nice goal.
Mikel Merino made it 3-0 in the 31st minute with a clinical finish. PSV managed to pull one back from a Noa Lang penalty to make it 3-1 at half time.
But Arsenal were back to their killer instinct within three minutes of the second half. Two goals and any hopes of a comeback were buried.
Captain Martin Odegaard scored his second in the 73rd minute. Then substitute Riccardo Calafiori sealed the deal with the 7th goal in the 85th minute.
This was a big performance from Arsenal. Not just from an attacking point of view but also under pressure.
