Corps members in Nigeria will get a big boost in their monthly allowance as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced an increase to N77,000.
Tne payment of the new allowance will start from February 2025.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed made this known during his visit to 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State.
Brigadier General Ahmed said the allowance increase has already been captured in the 2025 Federal Government budget.
And that, once the budget is passed, the new payment structure will replace the current N33,000 allowance.
He addressed the corps members and said January has ended but from February, the new allowance will start.
The NYSC DG also promised corps members that the government is committed to their welfare and security.
He said apart from improving financial support, the scheme will ensure no corps member is deployed to areas with security risks.
He said every deployment is carefully done to ensure safety and no one will be sent to areas with known security threats.
So corps members can expect better financial support during their service year, as a way of recognizing their contributions to national development.
