The voting process has been deferred to April 21, Sunday because of the late delivery of election materials and subsequent late deployment of personnel to the Okitipupa council area’s thirteen electoral wards.
This All Progressive Congress conducted its governorship primary in all the 203 wards within the state on Saturday, April 20.
Under the supervision of Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, who led a committee comprising seven members, there were about sixteen aspirants for the governorship position.
A press release by Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, chairman Ondo Primary Election Committee, in Akure explained that logistical issues have necessitated postponement of primary elections within this local government area.
“Looking at the reports from yesterday’s primary across Ondo State which held across 18 Local Government Areas, we had to conduct our election within all the 13 wards of Okitipupa Local Government Area with total validated registered membership figure is 9,515,” he added.
He clarified again that this decision was made in light of confirmed reports showing that the primary did not hold at the local government area due to late arrival of materials and staff, caused by logistical problems.
“Election in Okitipupa Local Government will now take place on Sunday 21st April, 2024 at 12 noon.” He added.
Ododo also said that the final tabulation of results would be done later.
