The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired AIG Hakeem Odumosu, after she was kidnapped by hoodlums in Arepo, Ogun State.
Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement, commending the Ogun State Police Command for the swift and smart action.
Mrs. Odumosu was kidnapped on January 16, 2025, by four masked men who blocked her Lexus Jeep at the entrance of her house.
The incident triggered an immediate response from the Ogun State anti-kidnapping unit, which launched a full scale investigation and deployed intelligence to track the kidnappers.
With technical intelligence from the Force Headquarters, police operatives combed the creeks in Arepo. Their efforts paid off on January 23, 2025, in the Ikorodu swamp.
On getting to the location, they met the kidnappers and a gunfight ensued.
Two of the kidnappers were neutralized, four others escaped with their lives, abandoning their weapons and a ransom of ₦10 million earlier demanded from the victim’s family.
Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unhurt and taken for medical check-up as a precaution.
The PRO disclosed that she’s back with her family. Items recovered during the operation were four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles and various calibres of ammunition.
The IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for a job well done.
He said the Police Force will continue to protect lives and tackle violent crimes like kidnapping.
This operation shows the importance of collaboration, intelligence and swift action in tackling security challenges.
It also serves as a reminder to be vigilant and support the law enforcement agencies.
