Seun Kuti, a prominent Afrobeat artist, has posted on his social media that he’s being threatened with death.
According to Kiti, some people are planning to “eliminate and assassinate” him for speaking “the truth.”
The Afrobeat star in a video on his Instagram page said he has been dealing with many court cases and police summons over the years. He said he’s fighting many “secret battles” alone.
“I will tell you here today,” the singer said. “They want to silence me for this country.”
“I can’t tell you how many battles I’m fighting alone. I can’t tell you how many cases in court for nothing, how many police invitations left, right and centre for nothing. For just saying the truth, everybody is inviting the police on me.
“Because I’m saying the truth, they are trying to destroy and kill me. They are trying to bring me down and destroy my name. It’s not easy. They have been silencing speakers of the truth since 705 BC.”
