On Monday, there was a tragedy at Mowe Market in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State when an electrical accident killed a mother, her son and another person.
The market had been without power since a rainstorm on Sunday but it was restored on Monday which caused the electric spark, Vanguard Newspaper reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the fatal shock came from a step-down transformer that was dangling from an electric pole nearby, while traders were opening their shops for business of the day. The current killed a female trader and her son alongside one other person and left four others injured.
Mr Segun Soneye, the Information Officer of Obafemi Owode Local Government confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta. He said that the woman was roasted beyond recognition by the fire. Soneye blamed iron shops constructed directly under power lines as one of the causes for such kind of disaster among traders who do this risky businesses.
The Council Chairman Lanre Ogunsola immediately visited affected shop owners to commiserate with them over their loss and issued seven days notice all those doing business under high-tension lines with makeshift structures should vacate n so as to prevent reoccurrence in future times.
Ogunsola, who visited Mowe Health Post where the other victims are currently being treated, promised that their care would be covered by the government.
The police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, conformed the incident, and added that only the mother, identified as Ujuwa Okechukwu, died. She also disclosed that four other injured persons are currently receiving treatment at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
