Tragedy struck Oshodi, Lagos on Saturday when a train killed a 50-year-old man identified as Emmanuel. The incident happened near Arena Shopping Mall in Oshodi.
According to reports, the man’s sister who is yet to be named told the police that she got a call around 9am that her brother was dead in the train accident.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement that Mosafejo Division was informed of the accident at 1:33pm and a team of detectives was sent to the scene to investigate.
“The scene was visited and photographed by detectives”, he said, “the body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy.”
Hundeyin also said the case has been transferred to Railway Police Command in Ebute Metta for further investigation.
While details of the incident are still sketchy, this is coming few months after a similar incident in Mushin area of Lagos where a man was killed by a train. That one happened around 6pm as the victim was walking along Cappa railway tracks.”
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said in a statement by Nosa Okunbor that the victim in the Mushin case died instantly from the impact.
