Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) says she won’t be silenced.
She made the remarks on Thursday after she was suspended for six months from the Senate.
Before she was escorted out of the chamber, she said, “This injustice will not be sustained.”
According to BriefNaija, a row broke out on February 20 between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan on the Senate floor over seating arrangements.
In the days that followed, during an interview with Arise News, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that her problems in the Senate started when she turned down Akpabio’s advances.
On Wednesday, she presented a petition on the Senate floor, accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment.
But the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions threw out her petition, citing breach of due process and Senate rules.
On Thursday, she re-presented her petition to the Senate but this time to the Senate President.
However, after a heated exchange with the Senate President over seating arrangements, the Senate Ethics Committee recommended her six months suspension.
